As a Cincinnati personal trainer and also a mom, I know that it can be tough to find time to work out. Between taking care of your kids and all of the other obligations you have, it can be hard to fit in a trip to the gym. That’s why I’ve put together this list of tips that will help you get in shape without having to sacrifice too much time!
Tip #1 – Find a time that works for you and stick to it
One of the best ways to make sure that you’re able to work out on a regular basis is to find a time that works for you and stick to it. Whether it’s first thing in the morning or right after you put the kids to bed, find a time that you can commit to and stick to. Having a regular routine will help you stay on track and make working out a priority.
As human beings we quickly adapt to routines. Working out at the same time each day will give your body a routine and make it easier to get into the habit of exercising. It’s not easy to find time to work out when you have a million other things going on, but if you can find a time that works for you, it’ll make it that much easier to stick to your workout routine.
Tip #2 – Start small – 10 minutes of exercise is better than nothing
Starting small is key when you’re trying to get in shape as a busy mom. As a Cincinnati personal trainer, I’ve found that a lot of my clients think they need to be working out for hours each day in order to see results. The truth is, if you try to do too much too soon, you’re likely to get overwhelmed and end up quitting altogether.
By starting small, you’ll be able to gradually increase your workout routine without feeling like it’s a huge burden. Even if you can only fit in ten minutes of exercise, it’s better than nothing. Once you get into the habit of working out, you can gradually increase the amount of time you’re working out each day. So don’t feel like you have to go from zero to 60 – start small and build up gradually.
Tip #3 – Be accountable: To yourself, a friend or a personal trainer
The third tip is to make a commitment to yourself and be accountable. This means that you need to make working out a priority and not let other things get in the way. As a mom, it’s easy for your workout to get pushed to the back burner. But if you make a commitment to yourself, you’ll be more likely to stick to it.
Having someone to be accountable to can also help with your fitness journey. It’s easy for us to let ourselves down, but we’re less likely to let someone else down. Finding someone to workout with or hiring a personal trainer can help you stay on track and be accountable.
As a traveling personal trainer in Cincinnati, I love helping my clients stay on track with their workouts, meal plans and goals! My favorite part of my job is seeing women and moms have victory in their lives and fitness journey. Tip #4 – Get your family involved in your fitness journey
Getting your family involved in your fitness journey is a great way to make sure you’re able to stick to your workout routine. When you have support from your family, it makes it that much easier to stay on track. Plus, it’s a great way to get your kids involved in healthy activities!
You can involve your kids and family in your fitness journey in a few different ways. One way is to find a family-friendly workout class or gym. This way, you can all work out together and support each other. Another way is to simply make sure that you’re working out at home when your kids are around. This way, they can see that you’re making a commitment to your health and they can even join in on the fun!
No matter how you choose to involve your family, getting them involved in your fitness journey is a great way to make sure you’re successful.
Tip #5 – Drink plenty of water and eat healthy foods
Getting in shape involves more than just working out! Your eating habits can make or break your fitness journey. As a Cincinnati personal trainer, I always tell my clients that they need to be drinking plenty of water and eating healthy foods if they want to see results.
Water is essential for our bodies and it’s especially important when you’re working out. When you sweat, you lose water and electrolytes, so it’s important to replenish those by drinking plenty of fluids. I recommend my clients drink at least 64 ounces of water per day.
In addition to drinking plenty of fluids, you also need to make sure you’re eating healthy foods. Eating processed foods and sugary snacks will sabotage your fitness journey. Instead, focus on eating whole foods that are packed with nutrients. This includes fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates.
Besides helping my clients with their workouts, I also provide expert guidance in the area of nutrition. As a certified specialists in this area, I can help you create a nutrition plan that will help you reach your fitness goals. So if you struggle in the area of nutrition, I’d love to help guide you in this area!
Tip #6 – Take breaks when needed, but try not to let them turn into long stretches of time off track
The last tip is to make sure you take breaks as needed. Regular exercise can be tough on your body, so it’s important to take a break when you need it. However, try not to let your breaks turn into long stretches of time off track.
If you find yourself taking a lot of breaks or missing a lot of workouts, it’s important to reassess your goals. Make sure your goals are realistic and that you’re not trying to do too much too soon. It’s also important to make sure you have a good support system in place. As I mentioned before, having someone to help you stay on track can be a huge help!
